Ethiopian Medical Association (EMA)

The EMA-IRERC is a committee that reviews research involving human subjects to ensure that their rights and welfare are protected. The committee ensures this by reviewing the research proposal to make sure that it is ethical and that the risks to the subjects are minimized. It also monitors research once it is underway to make sure that the subjects are being treated fairly and that the research is being conducted in accordance with the approved proposal. In addition to protecting human subjects, the EMA-IRERC also works to ensure that research is of high quality and that it is conducted in a timely manner to guide timely decision making.
